Rather then closing their doors, they took the leap to invest in the infrastructure and education needed to cut out all the middlemen between producer and consumer; in the end, establishing one of the first vertically integrated, seed-to-cup, coffee companies in the world. 

This vision continues today at every level of Topeca's supply chain, from the farms, to the mills, to the roastery and cafes. Topeca focuses on improving sustainability through diligently crafting quality products, creating opportunities for education and training for both employees and consumers, and treating everyone from farm worker to cafe customer with professionalism.

Vertically-integrated coffee company based in Tulsa, OK. Family owned since 1850. Topeca owns two award winning farms, Fincas Ayuteqpeque and el Manzano in El Salvador, where they source much of their coffee. Topeca is also home to the 2018 U.S. Roaster Champion.

Emilio Lopez Diaz is a 6th generation coffee producer. He is pioneer in the Specialty coffee farming community and leader in the Specialty coffee industry, being the first and only producer to serve as President of the Coffee Roasters Guild Executive Council. He is constantly innovating at all levels of the value chain, utilizing technology and scientific understanding to produce outstanding coffees in a sustainable fashion.

Ethiopia Shakiso

Our 2021 crop selection comes to us from Kayon Mountain Farm in the Shakiso district of East Guji. Unlike the majority of coffees produced in Ethiopia; that is, grown by communities of small landholders (or home garden system), Kayon Mountain Farm is a single farm estate owned and operated by a single proprietor. This proprietor is Ismael Hassen Aredo, who along with his family, has been running the organic certified farm since 2012. 
Ismael oversees a staff of 25 permanent full-time and 300 seasonal employees, and the farm management offers free transportation services as well as financial support for building schools and administration buildings for the community. The farm competes with a nearby mining village for seasonal workers, so Ismael and his family tend to pay higher wages to their pickers in order to incentivize them returning year after year. 
Kayon Mountain farm has a nursery on-site and utilizes shade (acacia and other indigenous trees) to protect the coffee as well as for creating compost to fertilize naturally. Ismael is meticulous about not only the structure and management of the farm itself but also the harvesting and processing. Both Natural and Washed lots are produced on the property.
One advantage of a single estate coffee over community lots, is the ability to oversee qualities at every stage from nursery to the wet mill. And Ismael does so meticulously, separating lots for quality and full traceability. 

Kayon Mt. Farm

A sweet, balanced, and vibrant coffee, traceable to various small-holder farmers in Laboyano's Valley, Huila. 

Colombia Laboyano 

Laboyano is the top quality lot carefully curated by our sourcing partners, The Coffee Quest, at their washing station in Pitalito, southern Huila. The name of this coffee comes from the Laboyano’s Valley, as the area around the city of Pitalito is called. The term Laboyano is, indeed, the colloquial Spanish word to refer to people from this region. So, the name is a tribute to the hard work of several dedicated Laboyanos who produce these high quality coffee varieties, which includes a generous amount of Pink Bourbon.

This lot is comprised of top quality single farmer lots that have each been cupped, graded against strict physical requirements and then strategically blended by The Coffee Quest's head buyer. All lots are fully traceable and producers are paid fair and transparent prices based on quality.

Unique to our collection are the All Natural, and, Organic Compliant flavored coffee!  This "dry" process does not use the chemical base of propylene glycol commonly used in flavoring coffee.  It's also coffee grinder friendly as a result.  You will also notice a more smooth, and less bitter flavor profile in our flavored coffee.
