In the depressing winter of 2014, Peaks Coffee Company was born in a snowy back yard on a cast iron skillet. Kelsey Ball and Samuel Bender began the company roasting on a cast iron skillet. In the spring of 2015, they upgraded to a US Royal Roaster #4. Roasting out of a garage, they sold to friends and family. Buying small bags of sustainably and ethically sourced coffee, a community was built in the valleys.

Kelsey Ball and Sam Bender have suffered from anxiety and depression for the entirety of their adult lives. Kelsey’s toughest struggle came during her senior year of high school, when she could no longer attend school and was placed on a homebound learning program. Kelsey’s father used to tell her during these days “life is about enjoying the peaks and enduring the valleys”.

On October 3rd, 2015 the dream Kelsey and Sam created together became a reality. With the overwhelming support of our community, Peaks Coffee Company opened its first retail location in the quaint town of Nelson, N.Y. We are focused on establishing friendships, both locally and internationally.
