Notes from the curator
In Antigua, Guatemala, volcanoes dominate the horizon and local farmers cultivate the nutrient-rich soil to grow coffees of world-renowned quality. Luis Pedro Zalaya calls this region’s coffee Hunapu, after the Mayan name for the largest volcano in the region. Luis Pedro is a fourth-generation coffee farmer and the owner of Beneficio Bella Vista, where nearly 300 farmers deliver ripe, sorted coffee that undergoes a long, cool fermentation and a thorough washing and drying.
