This is a wonderful coffee from the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmer's Cooperative Union "Worka".  It is found in the Gedeb district, approximately 40 miles from the market town of Dilla. It was founded in 2005 and is known for producing a remarkable, high-altitude (> 8000 ft above sea level) natural-processed Heirloom coffee. Coffee cherries are dried under the sun on raised beds and under close attention, and control, over fermentation. The result is a unique, hard-to-find, flavor profile with strong floral and berry aromas

UCA San Juan del Rio Coco is a union of 8 small farmer cooperatives in the Northern Nicaraguan highlands, at about 4,500 ft above sea level. All of their coffee is certified organic and shade-grown, below a canopy of intact, functioning forests that provide critical habitat for hundreds of migratory bird species. Small shade coffee farms have been increasingly destroyed to make way for sun-tolerant coffee with better yields and lower prices - it is estimated that over 40% of shade coffee farms in Latin America have been lost in the last decade! Supporting cooperatives like this one makes a difference!

We begin by sourcing the most socially-impactful, highest-quality coffee beans we can, roasting them with scientific care (in state-of-the-art 15-kilo and 10-kilo drum roasters, by PhD and MD holders), and packaging and shipping them as soon as they are roasted. We only roast on order (no coffee inventory ever!) so we can always ship your coffee just hours after roasting. 

Yet, our definition of coffee "greatness" goes well beyond high quality and unparalleled freshness - it prioritizes the impact behind each bean. In fact, our passion for coffee is only surpassed by our desire to make a difference in the lives of small coffee farmers (over wealthy large farmers or Estates which tend to dominate Specialty coffee). Our biggest success story is a small farmer Co-Op in Poaquil, Guatemala, which was able to buy their own coffee processing equipment in 2019 and continues to grow with us! Unique to our collection are the All Natural, and, Organic Compliant flavored coffee!  This "dry" process does not use the chemical base of propylene glycol commonly used in flavoring coffee.  It's also coffee grinder friendly as a result.  You will also notice a more smooth, and less bitter flavor profile in our flavored coffee.
